Future Earth research projects

Future Earth science is based on core projects and other initiatives related to Global Environmental Change.

Currently, the core projects  exist under the umbrella of four global environmental change programmes, DIVERSITAS, the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP), the International Human Dimensions Programme (IHDP) and the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP). Some further projects arose out of the Earth System Science Partnership (ESSP). A formal process for the accession of these projects into Future Earth is underway.

European Alliance of Global Change Research Committees aims to establish functional working relationships with the core projects. European Alliance visions that the national committees and core projects can collaborate and form operative networks of local and regional stakeholders, policy-makers, and scientists working on specific projects.
